horse and knight :icongeek-stock:

birds and gems are psd files of mine
crown on knight is a psd file but I can't remember who I got it from, if anyone recognizes it, let me know :)

Thanks to the wonderful stockers!

EDIT: I tried to do what :iconpixelwitch: suggest in her nice critique. I'm not sure I accomplished it so much but at least I tried :D

2nd EDIT: :iconpixelwitch: also sent me to a tutorial, so I applied some of those effects as well :)

3rd EDIT: :iconallison712: gave some constructive critique and so I darkened the bottom of the dress, fixed a bit of the sleeves to give a more edgy look and tried to fix the birds so that they don't look like they're floating :D

Interesting composition. The blending of textures, colors, and the overall tone of the image give it a historic feel. The painterly texture works well. The figure of the lady is placed realistically in the scene and the perspective and blending give it a dreamy quality. I just notice the two birds to the right of the image; a metaphor? -Love birds? This is a nice touch. The knight in the background seems a little out of real perspective which is a bit unsettling but, perhaps this is intentional too. After my initial reaction, I like the effect. Back to the birds (and this is because I know these things): one of the birds appears to be brown headed cowbird [link] not the best choice because they are a nesting parasite. Although the subtle color may have been intentional, perhaps a dash of color with a true love bird like a cardinal would have been more effective. Overall a very nice effort.

Overall I really love this piece. Hence the fav! The detail is wonderful. The overall feel is full of romance and fantasy. I love how well you blended the jewelry, it looks so natural like she was already wearing it all. There are only a couple things I would critique. I feel like the edges of the woman are a little... muddy, I guess is how I would describe them. A little blurry, not very crisp... I feel more like she's fading than blending I guess. The birds also don't feel like they're blending very well. Maybe a few leaves in front of them would help. And finally I feel like the picture is a little out of balance. I just feel like the woman and the knight are a little close together. It might help to move the lady to the right a little? Anyway, I truly love the tone you've created and none of my critiques are distracting overall. Wonderful work!
